The Early Modern within Europe includes the Renaissance, Protestant Reformation, the French Revolution and the beginning of the Enlightenment. In an increasingly Christian world, Jews were faced with the tension of balancing tradition, while being part of the modern world, perhaps more than ever before. They sought to be recognized as full citizens within France, denominationalism began to take shape.
