Categories Pursue Justice , Holocaust

Lesson Summary:

From University of Southern California's Shoah Foundation:
This lesson is a part of Creating Character,  a series of eight multi-media classroom lessons, each of which explores the importance of positive character development. These lessons are geared towards teachers who teach 8th to 12th grade.

n this lesson, students examine the differences between justice and fairness. Using a “quiz-show” activity, students are encouraged to confront discrimination in the classroom and reflect upon their own prejudices. Students contrast three different accounts by Holocaust survivors. One survivor recounts his experience as a witness in a war crimes trial, another remembers one Nazi who chose to treat him fairly. A third Holocaust survivor reflects upon revenge administered against perpetrators.
