There are many smaller Jewish communities that are frequently overlooked when studying Jewish history and culture. Communities in Africa, China, and even South America, for example, have unique rituals and customs that have been formed by the merger between Judaism and their home culture. Many smaller communities have been influenced by Ashkenazic and Sephardic Jewry, but have made diverse adaptations to best represent their communities.
