Learning Extension Suggestions:

Ask students to describe an “Invitation.” Who has received an invitation, and what was it for? The Barchu is an invitation to the prayer service, where the leader and the community take turns. As the song becomes familiar, ask students to help take turns being the leader.

Ask students and participants to remember any time they have said or heard a word that sounds like “Barchu” or “Baruch.” Discuss what was the same about each of these instances. Remind students of this conversation in future occurrences of using these words.
