Choral Reading to explore at Camp Coleman Family Service

At Camp Coleman Family Camp, service leaders Rabbi Ellen Nemhauser and Emily Aronoff planned two parallel activities for the community members during a "semon" time, to study the value addressed in Parshat Shoftim, Justice. Elder children and parents studied text and did a role-playing activity with Rabbi Ellen while younger children shared stories and discussion with Miss Emily.

This clip demonstrates a choral reading of the book Duck! Rabbit! by Amy Krouse Rosenthal. The children discussed how "fair fighting" and "safe disagreements" are an essential part of Justice, and related it to standing up to bullies and resolving fights with friends. The children and parents delighted in sharing the story, and the pre-readers took delight in providing animal sounds.
